These are a Few of Our Favorite Things

The Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME

One of New England’s only paved, public shoreline footpaths. This vacationl and jewel, which spans a little more than a mile along a spectacular coast, connects Perkins Cove to Ogunquit Beach.

The Nubble Light house in Cape Neddick, York, ME

Beautiful iconic American classic lighthouse set on a small rocky island a short distance off the eastern point of Cape Neddick. The Voyager spacecraft, which carries photographs of Earth’s most prominent man-made structures and natural features, should it fall into the hands of intelligent extraterrestrials, includes a photo of Nubble Light house!

The Wiggly Bridge in York Harbor, York, ME

Beautiful scenic seacoast walk. This walk is short, easy, scenic and unique. The adventure starts down a man-made causeway and then crosses a mini-suspension bridge and onto a wooded path. The walk is just over a mile and an ideal spot for a quick stroll.

Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, ME

A quintessential Maine village with dining, shopping and a great place to watch lobsterman haul in their catch of the day from the town dock.

Kennebunk & Kennebunkport, ME

Spend the afternoon walking the quaint towns for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Take a drive along the rocky coast to Walker’s Point to take a photo of President George Bush’s home. The ride is beautiful, with the Atlantic crashing against the rocks along the side of the road.

The Old Port in Portland, ME

Known for its cobblestone streets, 19th century brick buildings and fishing piers. The district is filled with boutiques, restaurants and bars.

Peak’s Island in Casco Bay, ME

Hop on the ferry at Casco Bay Island Ferry Service in the Old Port and spend the afternoon exploring the island via Golf Cart (make sure you reserve ahead of time ~ those golf carts book up fast!) There are 3 main full service restaurants on the island or you can pack a lunch. While there, don’t miss the wacky Umbrella Cover Museum!

Finestkind Scenic Cruises Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, ME

We love the Nubble Lighthouse Cruise. The gorgeous scenic tour is mesmerizing! Seeing the Nubble Light House from the sea is marvelous and the Rum Punch they serve on the trip is right as rain!

Old Orchard Beach, ME

It’s a Honky Tonk kinda town! 7 miles of sandy beach, Palace Playland amusement park, which runs along the beach and the Pier which reaches 500 feet over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s packed with shops, dining & dancing to live music day and night. Plenty of fun to be had no matter the age!

York's Wild Kingdom, York, ME

Located on the wonderful Short Sands Beach, York’s Wild Kingdom offers something for the whole family. A mixture of zoo and an amusement park with wild animals from all over the world. There are rides, a petting zoo, golf course, concession stands and gift shops to be able to remember your trip!

People who love to eat are always the best people” ~ Julia Childs

Cape Neddick Lobster Pound, Cape Neddick, ME

Picturesque setting with a fantastic menu a good place to crack into a Maine Lobster!

Flo’s Hot Dogs York, ME

Offering up the best hotdogs in the world with housemade relish since 1959 – you gotta try one of these! Flo’s is famous round these parts!

Lobster Cove, York, ME

Casual & cool with Floor to Ceiling windows on the second story overlooking the Ocean. Good eats with good prices.

The Goldenrod at Short Sands Beach, York, ME

Grab your lunch, ice-cream or salt water taffy here after a day lounging on the beach. Visitors have been stopping here since 1896!

The Union Bluff on Short Sands Beach, York, ME

This makes our list because my husband has been on a Perfect Burger Quest. He declares The Bluff’s Pub’s burger to be winner! It’s a laid back and cozy little pub with great food and a great vibe.

Bintliff’s in Ogunquit, ME

Hand’s Down – The Best Brunch! I would eat here every Sunday for brunch if I could! The dinner is also Outstanding! If you are a Bloody Mary fan you won’t be disappointed with Bintliff’s! My favorite is the BLT – they infuse vodka with Bacon!

Jackie Too’s Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, ME

This restaurant is on the water with the Marginal Way path just over to the left of the parking lot. Beautiful Ocean views & great seafood. We love the Native Steamers & The Lobster Bake & Seafood Fettuccine!

Roost Café and Bistro, Ogunquit ME

Warm, cozy and welcoming. Wonderful entrees and appetizers and GLUTEN FREE options!! Lots of Them!!

Angelina’s Ristorante Ogunquit, ME

Our top pick for Italian this side of Kennebunk. This is a Night Out Experience. Beautiful wine selection & award winning entrees.

Hook’s Wells, ME

Mostly outdoor dining. Cool and casual. Great menu along with live music.

Mike’s Clam Shack Wells, ME

Lunch or dinner can’t go wrong here. The servers are happy go lucky, the food is big and good, they have live bands on Friday and Saturday nights and the Fried Clams are The Best! Don’t listen to the travel channel – if you want The Best Fried Clams you’ll go to Mike’s!

Ports of Italy Kennebunk, ME

This first time we ate here I felt like I had been cheated my entire life from the real taste of what pasta was supposed to taste like. Every carb consumed was worth it! Classy feel and scenic views.

The Arunde l Wharf Kennebunkport, ME

My choice every Mother’s Day. As soon as the days get longer and spring has truly sprung, this is our go to spot. It has casual waterfront dining as well as outside dining on the large deck. Sitting on an Adirondack chair in the sun, waiting for a table with a cocktail, while soaking up the nautical scenery, fills my soul!

The Ramp Bar & Grill, Cape Porpoise, Kennebunkport, ME

Stunning views of Cape Porpoise Harbor and working lobster boats are a feast for the eyes! This is a quirky little place and I love it! I dream about their Seafood Stew and their signature cocktails! Upstairs is the more formal restaurant Pier 77.

The Trap, Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, ME

A place we like to call our Hidden Treasure. With an outdoor deck, private unobstructed ocean views, a glorious crisp class of rosé and a dozen fresh shucked oysters on the half shell. There is nothing better on a sunny summer day!

Ogunquit Beach Lobster House, Ogunquit, ME

If you would like to get distracted by the flow of the Atlantic Ocean, with floor to ceiling windows and seals sun bathing on the sand, you have come to the right place! Their Caeser salad with true White Anchovies, a gorgeous glass of wine and the friendliest staff (ask for Marissa) are a few of the attributes that makes this a fantastic place to eat, drink and be Maine!

Lobster in the Rough, York, ME

Enjoy a traditional Lobster dinner at the Rough! This place has a lot of character – from yard games, fire puts, to live music from all over New England! Fun for family during the day & a great adult getaway at night!

Spirit of Massachusetts, Kennebunkport, ME

You can’t beat having a cocktail and a quick bite to eat on a floating piece of history. The food mirrors the travels that the S.S. Spirt of Massachusetts has embarked on and so do their plates that are made from palm leaves from India! Jump aboard and enjoy a drink (or two) and enjoy the views!

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID

We could not have asked for a better place to stay! This house was absolutely beautiful, and our family of 5 had more than enough room.

Daniele was so friendly and accommodating.

Thank you for an amazing week! We are already looking forward to next years vacation!

I couldn’t wait until the end of the stay to tell you how amazing your home is!  Though we have been here less than 24 hours, we are all having such a great time! My husband and I can’t stop pointing out all the special touches that make the home so warm and cozy.  We have already decided to return next April vacation.

April 2017

We had a wonderful time in York Beach. The cleanliness, the decoration, the quiet, the balcony facing the sea and, above all, the warm welcome that the owner of [Salt & Shine], Daniele, has allowed us to make the most of these short holidays.  Daniele is a true ray of sunshine, always smiling and ready to answer your needs and questions.  She also offers a host of small touches, [which are] always appreciated.  She even moved to wish us goodbye when we left on Sunday morning.  If you want a carefree stay and in a beautiful property on a Maine beach, I would recommend this company without any hesitation!
